    WHY THIS ROUTE

The shortest line isn’t always the right one.

Every day has to work for the person running and the person supporting. A slightly longer stretch can be the better choice if it gives us a safer, clearer and more practical way forward.

    1. Legal on footRoads and paths where pedestrians are permitted, avoiding motorways and other prohibited roads.
    2. Runnable in real lifeSafe, realistic conditions rather than a line that only looks good on a map.
    3. Clear routesAvoiding unsuitable or unmarked hiking routes where practical.
    4. Room for supportPractical access for the support vehicle, with handovers that work for both of us.
    5. Somewhere to stopCampsites and overnight stops that fit the stages and give us time to recover.
    6. A realistic distanceBalancing all of these needs while keeping the overall journey manageable.
